Aggressive Casting Rod

The Blufin tuna fishing rod

Naraen70S|Naraen70S。

The Naraen 70S is a dedicated bluefin tuna rod built by packing all of our multi-piece rod engineering and expertise into a single purpose: landing giant tuna.

With rebounding Pacific bluefin tuna populations, opportunities to trigger bites have grown significantly. Yet given the scale of the target, tuna fishing often feels reserved only for physically imposing anglers. To break that barrier, the Naraen 70S features a blank designed to let anglers endure grueling, long-duration stand-up battles—even without a heavy muscular frame.

This is the rod we want in the hands of anyone looking to step up and challenge giant bluefin for the first time.

Rather than relying on simple, unyielding stiffness, the blank provides a crisp, full-power swing that handles PE #10 to #12 lines effortlessly. Its progressive taper allows lighter-build anglers with less raw muscle mass to go toe-to-toe with true monster-class fish.

The Naraen 70S is our definitive answer for seasoned tuna hunters seeking something better than conventional offerings on the market, as well as anglers searching for the ultimate offshore short rod.

COMPASS OF YOUR DREAM

クロマグロロッドに求めたもの

The development of the Naraen 70S began when we felt the limitations of existing multi-piece rods when challenging monster-class Pacific bluefin tuna, prompting us to build a dedicated prototype. Our mission was clear: to forge a dependable partner rod that enables anglers without massive physical strength to go toe-to-toe with giant tuna. The rod's name, Naraen, is derived from Naraen Kengo (Nārāyaṇa)—one of the 28 guardian deities at Kyoto’s Sanjūsangen-dō temple, renowned as an unrivaled symbol of immense physical strength and steadfast reassurance.

Tuna battle techniques vary widely, ranging from fully loading and bending the blank to high-pressure line fights. The Naraen 70S seamlessly accommodates every demanded fighting style while delivering the uncompromising specs required on the water. Five years in the making, the final rod has truly earned the revered name of Naraen.

This is the ultimate rod for anglers challenging Pacific bluefin tuna for the first time, as well as seasoned hunters who have struggled to find the right fit among existing market offerings.

Much like targeting trophy Japanese lates (akame), the blank of the Naraen 70S is specifically engineered to avoid infuriating the fish.

During field tests, it successfully landed a massive 240 kg-class giant in just 45 minutes—proving the blank's ability to smoothly sweep and pump fish to the boat without triggering violent, desperate death runs. Built with 100 kg+ beasts in mind, it is rated for heavy PE #10–15 lines and packs more than enough backbone to harness that extreme line class.

We relentlessly tested and refined every millimeter of the guide layout. The butt section incorporates Fuji RV guides, strategically placed relative to the reel position to maximize both long-distance castability and total blank power extraction.

While fitted with a genuine Fuji reel seat, the immense shock loads of tuna fishing can occasionally loosen hardware; we strongly advise securing your reel foot with non-slip rod wrap/bandage tape. The recommended reel size is 20000. While a 30000-size reel can be mounted, casting distance tends to decrease slightly.

Blanks & Guide

The Naraen 70S blank achieves an exceptional, highly refined balance—delivering tangible advantages across casting accuracy, maximum flight distance, reduced physical fatigue during battles, and explosive lifting power.

In factory testing, the blank boasts a massive breaking strength of over 30 kg at a 60-degree angle, engineered with ample headroom to handle sudden, explosive runs from monster bluefin.

Furthermore, its supple yet highly resilient blank significantly minimizes physical strain on the angler. We deliberately tuned the blank to be slightly lighter in action and feel than other ultra-heavy monster tuna rods on the market, optimizing endurance without sacrificing stopping power.

7.0ftというレングス

During the development of the Naraen 70S, we built and evaluated multiple prototypes ranging from the 6 ft range up to 7.6 ft. After thoroughly testing flight distances across anticipated lure weights, evaluating required power bands, measuring physical strain on the body, and analyzing overall rod balance, we concluded that 7.0 ft is the absolute sweet spot for targeting bluefin tuna.

Leveraging the segmented taper engineering honed through our multi-piece rod designs, we meticulously tuned the tip, belly, and butt sections individually. This precise configuration allows a compact 7 ft rod to achieve more than enough casting distance. By obsessing over the tip section’s loading profile to maximize castability while securing unyielding butt power to lift heavy fish, we created a powerhouse rod that remains effortless to command—regardless of the angler's physical build.
