Until now, there was virtually no heavy baitcasting rod capable of driving intense pressure into fish hooked 70 to 80 meters out—let alone turning the heads of apex reef predators like areolate grouper (Oomonhata), leopard coral trout (Sujiara), and spangled emperor (Taman).
Through relentless field testing against trophy-class groupers and emperors, we engineered overwhelming lifting torque into the Galupa’s blank. Furthermore, the modular extension section is purposefully guide-less.
Unlike conventional Trans systems that required unthreading the line to insert an extension section, the Galupa allows you to change blank length instantaneously without rerigging, adapting on the fly to changing rockshore conditions. On harsh, unforgiving coastal ledges, the ability to seamlessly switch between two operational lengths serves as a massive asset for hardcore rockfish anglers.
The pursuit of a stiff rod from the tip
In developing the Galupa 86B, our greatest engineering challenge centered on dialing in the exact level of crisp stiffness and recovery in the tip section.
When hunting structure-bound rockfish, a fast, responsive tip is vital for actively popping rigs free and avoiding snags. However, attempting to replicate an ultra-stiff tip within a multi-piece architecture historically compromised the overall blank balance, creating localized stress points that led to structural failure.
Because the extreme fast tapers typical of conventional rockfish rods could not sufficiently eliminate break risk under extreme loads, we arrived at a breakthrough: elevating the structural power across the entire blank while adopting a progressive regular taper.
This shift created an exceptionally stiff, high-power blank backed by deep, tenacious torque. Because the blank compresses smoothly without unnatural hinge points or sudden walling, anglers with high swing speeds can load the rod fully to achieve an unprecedented dimension of casting distance.

In extreme rockshore rockfish applications, the defining advantage of using a baitcasting platform is the ability to run long shock leaders.
The Galupa 86B is dialed to accommodate a long leader system of up to two fathoms (approx. 3 meters) using heavy PE #5 braid paired with a 60 lb leader without compromise.
The guide train utilizes a size 6 KG top guide, paired throughout the running section with LRV guides. When throwing heavy mainlines and thick shock leaders, the casting impact on guide frames increases significantly. Under these conditions, standard single-foot guides are prone to bending, while conventional heavy KW guides introduce noticeable tip-heaviness.
The LRV guide layout solves both challenges simultaneously—preventing frame deformation and reducing swing weight while retaining the signature low-friction line clearance characteristic of RV-style guides. As a result, the blank delivers a clean, exhilarating casting feel even with compact size 6 guide rings.

The rear grip of the Galupa 86B is dialed to 365 mm—a precision length that stays clear of your body during tight pinpoint casts around structure, yet provides ample leverage to load the rod with authority during long-distance launches.
The EVA section of the rear grip is engineered longer than conventional split-grip designs. This provides a secure, non-slip purchase when tucking the butt under the arm during heavy fights, maximizing leverage when wrenching monsters off the bottom.
Blank balance is paramount in rockshore rockfish games, and we paid meticulous attention to the weight distribution of the 8.6 ft configuration. When paired with a 300-size baitcasting reel, the center of gravity settles directly into the palm of your hand. This ergonomic alignment drastically reduces wrist fatigue during repetitive lift-and-fall tactics, allowing for delicate, high-resolution bottom probing.

"To take absolute control from the instant of hookset"—this uncompromising drive sparked the development of our dedicated multi-piece rockfish rod. We envisioned a blank that remained relentlessly stiff and powerful right to the very tip. Because our standards were extraordinarily demanding, the project nearly collapsed. Yet, after four arduous years of relentless engineering, the ideal blank finally materialized in the Galupa 86B.
The core technical barrier was structural stress concentration: hardening the blank through the tip transferred destructive loads to adjacent sections, causing catastrophic failure. The stiffer and crisper we made the tip, the more structural distortion emerged throughout the multi-piece joints.
Through exhaustive blank iterations and field trials, we engineered a breakthrough: pushing fast-taper mechanics to their absolute limit, then transitioning smoothly into a deep, regular-taper fighting curve under heavy load. To maximize bottom tactile feedback and eliminate snags, the tip must never bow or buckle under the weight of heavy terminal tackle.
High-load power spanning the tip through mid-belly allows anglers to initiate the fight from an elevated leverage angle the millisecond the hook drives home. Below that, an unyielding butt section cushions violent headshakes while generating relentless lifting force to surface pinned fish. Every detail of this exacting vision lives in the Galupa 86B.

Beyond delivering remarkable bottom feedback, the casting distance generated from this crisp blank is astonishing. Reaching distant structure previously untouched by other bank anglers provides an overwhelming tactical edge, directly resulting in far more strikes.
