Aggressive Casting Rod
Invite them, make a move, and then stop them.
Monsterfin 70S
The Monsterfin 70S is a 7 ft heavy-duty short casting rod engineered to forcibly rip giant yellowtail amberjack (dekamasa) and giant trevally (GT) away from shallow, knife-edge reef structure.
Its core design concept: "Hook and Lock."
Beyond conventional diving pencil presentations, this short rod was developed specifically for aggressive lure jerking and technical manipulation of sinking pencils. It effortlessly handles everything from oversized floating plugs to heavy sinking pencils up to around 180 g on full-power casts. Its compact length and lightweight feel drastically reduce angler fatigue when violently working lures for hours.
The butt power is engineered to be substantially stronger than that of the Laulau 83GTS, creating a relentless, unbreakable backbone built to stop the blistering runs of trophy pelagics. It boasts a staggering factory-tested breaking strength of 20 kg. The 7 ft configuration also makes smooth underhand casting effortless in tight deck spaces or restricted casting lanes.
The Monsterfin 70S is a dedicated short powerhouse designed to tame the violent dives of shallow-water monster kingfish and GT, as well as command large plugs in bluefin tuna games. We relentlessly dialed in its blanks to deliver effortless long-session lure control, brute-force castability, and overwhelming blank lifting power that puts maximum stopping pressure on giant predators.

COMPASS OF YOUR DREAM
Basic combination
Thanks to its lightweight build and compact length, the MF70S allows you to sustain aggressive jerking presentations for hours without fatigue. Yet it remains a purebred casting weapon at heart: the tip section retains the supple, loading flexibility of the Laulau 83GTS, fully unleashing the blank’s recoil energy to fire lures incredible distances.
Once hooked, the unbreakable butt section allows you to crank down the drag and take complete control, applying relentless stopping pressure even over hazardous shallow reefs. The short-rod geometry gives you tremendous mechanical leverage, making brutal stand-up battles far easier on the angler's body. Naturally, it has all the lifting power needed to tackle 100 kg-class giant bluefin tuna.

The MF70S gives you total command of the battle, even under a crushing 15 kg drag setting. Anglers may need a brief adjustment period to dial in their distance due to its short length and stiff, high-power blank. To maximize casting distance, you must fully tap into the recoil power of the #1 tip section—properly loading the lure's full weight onto the blank unlocks surprisingly explosive castability.
The MF70S is far more than just an overly stiff stick; it is an aggressive offshore short rod engineered to hunt down strikes on the offensive. It possesses the razor-sharp recovery needed to translate angler input directly into massive minnows and plugs during hard jerks. This direct, manual connectivity puts complete control at your fingertips, allowing you to manipulate lures precisely as intended.

Blanks & Guide
Equipped with Fuji MN40 stripper guides, the guide layout is optimized for peak casting distance when paired with reel sizes ranging from Shimano Stella 14000 to 18000. When we landed a massive 19.5 kg yellowtail amberjack (kingfish) over skinny reef structure in under 20 m of water, it was stopped nearly dead at full drag using PE #10 line on a Stella 18000. For shallow-water kingfish on mahi-mahi patterns or shallow GT games where you cannot afford to give an inch of line, a 14000-size spool loaded with 165 m of PE #10 is another proven, effective setup.
Live Bait Fishing
For freshwater big-game expeditions—particularly across South America—we highly recommend the Monsterfin 70S over the Laulau 83GTS. Because most battles take place from a boat against massive, hard-charging predators, the shorter geometry gives you superior leverage and makes landing trophy fish significantly more manageable.
