COMPASS OF YOUR DREAM

Choose your favorite style and length.

Fishing gear is ultimate play gear, and it’s no exaggeration to say that Dwarve-XX was developed to take that play to the absolute limit. With countless mountain stream rods and multi-piece options on the market, the Dwarve is the answer born from our rigorous pursuit of what a TRANSCENDENCE rod truly ought to be.

Japan’s mountain streams possess a breathtaking beauty that stands proud on the world stage. No two streams share the same character, presenting diverse river widths, water flow, backspace, and varying fish sizes. We wanted a rod that lets you enjoy these stream fish and their unique environments in the way that suits them best. Bringing that concept to life, the Dwarve-XX allows you to leverage the advantages of both spinning and baitcasting setups with quick, on-the-spot adjustments.

We engineered the Dwarve-XX specifically for upper river stretches and headwaters. In headwater fishing—where casting angles and mobility are strictly limited—a short rod provides an overwhelming advantage. The Dwarve-XX adapts seamlessly from 3.2 ft to 5.7 ft. We invite you to enjoy your fishing in whatever style fits your target species and water.

Basic combination

The Dwarve-XX covers every headwater scenario using just eight modular parts. From short-distance baitcasting setups tailored for headwater fishing to nimble spinning configurations designed for smooth casting, you can freely rearrange the rod sections to match the rich, ever-changing faces of Japan’s mountain streams.

Spinning Style

The spinning model of the Dwarve-XX features a specialized tip designed primarily for pinpoint headwater fishing, giving you precise, effortless control over both floating lures and sinking lures in heavy currents.

Before you set the hook, the supple tip significantly enhances casting accuracy and lure action; once a fish is hooked, the powerful butt section steps in to give you firm, reliable control.

It offers eight main length configurations. By adjusting the rod length to match the character of each stream, you can approach your mountain fishing with endless versatility.

Find the length that perfectly fits your personal style and enjoy the stream to its fullest.

BAIT CASTING STYLE

The baitcasting model of the Dwarve-XX offers six distinct length configurations.

It features a triggerless grip designed with a subtle contour that fits your fingers, eliminating the need for a traditional trigger.

Unlike typical mountain stream baitcasting rods, the Dwarve-XX utilizes a firmer, crisper blank. Once you get used to its action, it delivers unmatched pinpoint casting accuracy and an exceptionally nimble feel.

The ~4 ft length range is exceptionally easy to carry and cast in tight headwater settings. Because the rod is short and doesn't restrict your casting arc, you can seamlessly send lures into tight spots that were previously out of reach. Plus, its powerful butt section gives you the muscle to land unexpected trophy fish with confidence.

A rod balance that allows you to move it as you wish.

Mountain stream fishing involves much stronger currents than most other lure fishing scenarios, with cast-and-retrieve tactics often directed upstream.

In these conditions, immediately transitioning from touchdown to your next lure action dramatically increases strike rates with wary stream fish. Soft rods fall one or two steps behind when you need crisp, decisive action to trigger bites from selective fish—or when working lures that require active manipulation. The blank tuning of the Dwarve-XX ensures you never lose that vital split second.

The final multi-section configuration delivers optimal blank power, seamlessly transferring your input without compromising the lure's natural action. The tip section and the adjoining #2 section work together to give you precise control over your lure. At the same time, the rod retains enough flexibility to absorb frantic thrashes during hooksets and fights, keeping you solidly in control.

Cosmetics Rod Parts

The design of the Dwarve-XX features a proprietary wooden reel seat engineered for effortless use with both spinning and baitcasting reels.

Though it uses a triggerless reel seat for baitcasting, the contoured grip comfortably catches your fingers when using bait finesse reels, giving you a seamless, natural feel during baitcasting games.

Additionally, the screw-in grip end serves as a counterweight balancer, helping maintain optimal balance whenever you change the rod length.

Guide setting

The guide layout of the Dwarve-XX was finalized through extensive trial and error. Sharing a rod between baitcasting and spinning setups involves more than just the reel seat—it directly affects the stripper guide that takes first contact with the line.

We carefully selected guide spacing, height, ring sizes, and materials to accommodate both the exit angles/heights of baitcasting reels and the wider line-cone/angle of spinning reels. This resulted in a shared guide setting that excels in both distance and casting accuracy with either setup.

The ever-evolving fishing rod - xx

The "-XX" designation in Dwarve-XX signifies that the rod is designed to keep evolving long after its initial release. While the current configuration already transforms into 14 distinct lengths, we have many more proposed setups in the works. Moving forward, we plan to continuously develop optional add-ons that capitalize on the unique potential of multi-piece rods, such as dedicated configurations for other light-game applications and EVA grip models.

Currently, a stiffer hard-tip section is available to further refine your action control. This tip option is specifically suited for working lures with greater agility and sharpness in a spinning style.

Uses other than in mountain streams

The name "Dwarve" in Dwarve-XX comes from the dwarfs of Western mythology. Like its namesake, this rod is compact yet powerful and crafted with precision. Once you experience its balance, you'll find it can handle a wide variety of species—in fact, its proven track record spans over 100 recorded catches.

Whether you're taking light lures to the harbor for a casual session or enjoying bait fishing for small species, the Dwarve-XX is a compact companion ready for easy, versatile fun.

A fishing rod for a fun and comfortable journey through the world of char.

hiroyuki Yamane

Trekking through Japan's mountains in search of char—a species whose appearance subtly shifts from one valley to the next—means constantly confronting unfamiliar waters. From tiny trickles that dive underground to rugged mountain torrents carved with deep pools, char fishing offers incredible variety.

Navigating by map and GPS, imagine how satisfying it would be to freely adjust your rod layout on the spot to match whatever valley greets you. Anyone who regularly fishes headwaters knows the appeal.

Developing the Dwarve-XX as a variable, convertible rod for both spinning and baitcasting setups was a true trial for TRANSCENDENCE. Finding stripper guides that worked seamlessly for both styles; engineering a blank crisp enough for broader utility while maintaining smooth casting for lightweight lures on a baitcaster; designing a grip that feels natural with either reel type—the challenges were endless.

The process was a grueling sequence of confronting ambitious goals, crafting refined prototypes, and hiking straight back into the mountains. We constantly wrestled with the temptation to abandon the dual-concept and simply release dedicated spinning and baitcasting models. Yet, driven by our desire to create a rod that sparks genuine excitement, we persevered. After four long years, supported by countless valleys and the native char within them, the Dwarve-XX was complete.

While built as a stream rod, its versatility reaches far beyond mountain waters.

It handles trout in managed fisheries, ultralight saltwater games like ajing and mebaring off breakwaters, and target-hunting for micro-species around the globe. The blend of a sharp, crisp blank and a supple solid tip supports not just lure tactics, but bait fishing as well.

With rigorous testing against over 100 species beyond typical stream fish, its capability for micro-game fishing is undeniably proven.

If you spot the Dwarve-XX in a shop, pick it up. Feel its light, nimble balance, imagine reconfiguring its sections on the stream, and picture the species you want to pursue next. It is bound to get your heart racing.

Dwarve-XX rod

MASAAKI KATAYAMA

Mountain stream fishing easily ranks among my top three absolute favorite types of fishing. Stepping into an untouched, pristine sanctuary—free of trash and people—where you're healed visually by nature's magnificent beauty, serenaded by its peaceful sounds, and rewarded by cooperative fish. I truly wanted a rod I could bring to these cherished streams.

I wanted to fish my favorite waters with my dream tackle. I sincerely wished to bring that almost childlike, selfish dream to life. Just like international fishing trips or shore-rock games, mountain streams are a field where pack rods truly shine and make the ultimate sense.

There are countless mountain stream pack rods already on the market. Faced with that, what kind of rod should TRANSCENDENCE release? I kept asking myself that question, and six years after the initial concept, the Dwarve-XX was finally born.

Choosing a mountain stream rod always comes down to length and action. Depending on where you fish, the required rod length and stiffness constantly shift. Sure, as long as you have basic gear, stream fish will play along. But I wanted to build a rod that extracts every ounce of joy from every encounter. The conclusion was a multi-piece rod designed for both spinning and baitcasting.

You get the versatile, go-anywhere adaptability of a spinning setup combined with the heightened gameplay and pinpoint casting accuracy of a baitcaster. Bringing both styles together in a single rod sounded like pure fun.

Fishing is a passion, a game. The gear needs to maximize that enjoyment. Walking down a mountain trail after parking your car, heading toward the water with anticipation, and assembling your rod with unrestrained excitement—if the gear doesn't elevate those moments, it misses the point entirely.

That is all built on the premise, of course, that the rod fully meets every fundamental performance standard required for stream fishing. I truly hope you take this finished Dwarve-XX into your hands.

Lastly, a special thanks to my co-developer and friend, Kimi-kun (Hiroyuki Yamane). The hours we spent developing this rod, sitting by campfires in empty, tranquil riverbeds, are memories I will treasure for a lifetime. Without him, this rod would never have come to exist.

I hope you create your own unforgettable memories with the Dwarve-XX.
