The Blue Runner Special

Rods that hold their own in the world's offshore fishing

The Ghibli 80S is an offshore casting rod engineered specifically to target premier game fish across Japanese waters, including yellowtail kingfish (Hiramasa), amberjack/yellowtail (Buri), yellowfin tuna, and mid-sized giant trevally (GT). Constructed in a refined 4-piece architecture with an obsessive focus on optimal balance, it achieves an exceptionally light feel while boasting top-tier structural strength within the TRANSCENDENCE offshore lineup.

No matter what caliber of pelagic monster strikes, anglers can commit their full body weight and fighting power into the blank with absolute confidence. It casts and works lures ranging effortlessly from 30 g to 100 g. Designed around the engineering philosophy of "yielding to overcome brute force" (Ju yoku go o seisu), the blank features deep, forgiving power reserves capable of controlling 20 kg-class kingfish and trophy-sized yellowfin tuna.

Experience the apex performance that only an uncompromising multi-piece rod can deliver.

The Ghibli 80S pushes the full potential of multi-piece offshore blanks to the absolute limit, delivering a performance profile that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with conventional 2-piece models. Developed specifically to master the lighter lure weights that sit just outside the sweet spot of the Laulau 83 and Xaloc 83, this 4-piece casting rod is tuned around domestic Japanese yellowtail kingfish (Hiramasa) and yellowfin tuna games.

Engineered with a pack length tailored to fit diagonally inside standard suitcases for effortless travel, the 4-piece design also unlocks substantial overall weight reduction. Through countless prototype iterations, we achieved an exquisitely dialed swing balance. While boasting the highest structural strength in TRANSCENDENCE history, the blank transitions into a silky, continuous bend under load—allowing anglers to stay locked into a deep curve that continuously drives punishing pressure into hooked fish.

The Ghibli 80S is an exceptional creation that every offshore angler deserves to experience.

Blanks & Guide

The tip section incorporates high-modulus carbon prepreg to effortlessly load compact 30–50 g lures. By loading the blank smoothly through the cast, it nimbly launches everything from lightweight plugs up to heavy diving pencils exceeding 100 g (up to 120 g). Delivering exceptional castability, this crisp blank allows anglers to fire pinpoint casts into breaking surface feeds with laser precision.

The butt section is constructed to absorb unexpected monster-class strikes. Under heavy load, the Ghibli 80S bends through its entire length to cushion violent runs. While the catalog specifies a Max Drag of 10 kg, the blank effortlessly handles a practical maximum drag of 14 kg paired with 14000-class spinning reels with smooth drag startup. Its 60° fracture strength retains ample structural headroom well beyond that threshold.

In unpredictable yellowtail kingfish (Hiramasa) and yellowfin tuna games where fish size cannot be chosen, the Ghibli 80S allows you to confront whatever boils in front of you—regardless of lure size or fish weight. Engineered to adapt to virtually any pelagic up to 50 kg through exhaustive carbon prepreg and resin selection, this "Japan Special" blank stands as the ultimate offshore casting weapon.

Lure and Etc

The Ghibli 80S is engineered for optimal handling across an expansive lure spectrum—from compact 30 g diving pencils and sinking stickbaits up to standard 100 g offerings.

In yellowfin tuna games where fish selectively feed on micro-bait patterns, driving small sinking stickbaits or finesse pencils directly into breaking "nabura" boils demands razor-sharp casting accuracy. The Ghibli 80S seamlessly masters this high-precision technical approach while excelling at standard blind-casting and topwater "yobidashi" sweeps in wide-open waters.
